Local Data & Cloud Account
The desktop app splits data in two: framing data lives locally, account data lives online. Knowing which is which tells you what follows your account and what stays on this computer.
Where each kind of data lives
| Data | Stored | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pictures / frames / mats / liners / glass / materials | Local | Assets uploaded or edited in the desktop app exist only on this computer |
| Artworks / projects / quotes | Local | Same as above |
| Account, password, membership, orders, invoices, tickets | Online | Fully shared with the web app |
Key points:
- Framing assets are not shared between the desktop app and the web app — assets uploaded on the web don’t appear in the desktop app and vice versa. If you work on both, upload separately on each side, or run an Artgle backup import on each;
- A membership purchased on the web works in the desktop app too (membership is verified online);
- Framing data (assets, artworks) is stored in a local per-user data directory and does not follow you to another computer — back it up before reinstalling your system.
Does it work offline?
Framing, quoting and rendering don’t require the network — once signed in, your local library works offline. However sign-in, membership checks and support tickets do need a connection. After a long offline period, sign in once online before starting a design.
