Pricing Rules
This chapter explains how quotations are calculated so every line on the quote sheet makes sense. All sizes are in cm.
Unit prices

Size derivation
- No artwork size chosen: grow outward — artwork width = picture width + Σ(frame width × 2) + mat margins + Σ(fillet widths × 2);
- Artwork size chosen: shrink inward — visible picture width = artwork width − Σ(frame width × 2) − mat margins − Σ(fillet widths × 2).
Area & consumption
- Layer n frame area = layer n−1 area + frame width × 2 (plus fillet width × 2 when that layer has a fillet);
- Frame/fillet consumption (perimeter) = (artwork width + height) × 2;
- Mats grow outward layer by layer: inner area + that layer’s (left + right)/(top + bottom) margins (plus fillet width × 2 when present).
Total
Quote = picture (or material) + size + Σ frame layers + Σ mat layers + Σ fillets
- Quote sheet, work order and saved artworks share the same formula;
- Amounts round to 1 decimal;
- There is no separate “waste / labor” item — bake surcharges into asset prices if needed.
Example
An 80×60 cm picture (sale price 100) with a 3.0 cm frame (40/m) and one mat (12/m², 6 cm margins on all sides):
- Outer size ≈ 80 + 6×2 + 3×2 = 98 cm wide, 60 + 6×2 + 3×2 = 78 cm high;
- Frame perimeter = (98 + 78) × 2 = 352 cm → frame = 40 ÷ 100 × 352 = 140.8;
- Mat area ≈ (98 − 6) × (78 − 6) = 6624 cm² → mat = 12 ÷ 10000 × 6624 ≈ 7.9;
- Total ≈ 100 + 140.8 + 7.9 = 248.7.
Fillets are priced by their market price field; changing asset prices refreshes the quote instantly.
